BellHawk Implementation Process

BellHawk Systems can  provide complete turnkey tracking solutions with the needed equipment, software and implementation services. Alternately customers can buy licenses to the BellHawk software from BellHawk Systems and then rely on other sources for some or all of the equipment and services needed to implement a complete system.

BellHawk Systems may also team with partners, who may supply equipment, other software, and some of the needed services for a complete turnkey solution.

In order to implement a BellHawk tracking system, a customer will need the following:

  1. Software licenses for BellHawk base inventory tracking system plus optional modules. These are purchased from BellHawk Systems Corporation.
  2. Barcode scanners to attach to PCs; or wireless mobile computers  or ruggedized tablets with integral barcode scanners. These can be purchased through BellHawk Systems Corporation.
  3. A Windows Server on which to install the tracking software and the SQL Server tracking database. This is typically provided by the organization's IT support organization.
  4. A wireless LAN network to provide wireless coverage in all locations that data entry is to take place within the plant. If not already installed, this can be installed by an IT support organization.
  5. Rolls of pre-printed tracking barcode labels and location labels or one or more barcode printers on which to print tracking labels. These can be purchased through BellHawk Systems Corporation.
  6. (Optionally) BarTender Automation software from Seagull Scientific to enable user formatted labels to be automatically printed on a wide-range of barcode printers. This can be purchased through BellHawk Systems Corporation.

BellHawk Systems does not provide the necessary information technology infrastructure components, such as a server and wireless local area network. Instead, BellHawk Systems works closely with the customer's own IT support organization during the systems implementation phase.

Unless there are obvious customizations needed to meet some specific immediate requirement of the customer's business, we recommend that customers purchase and install a turnkey system that works out-of-the-box, with appropriate software and equipment to meet their most pressing business needs.

This system can then be subsequently customized by BellHawk Systems staff to meet any specific business requirements of each manufacturing operation. It can also be expanded incrementally by adding equipment and software modules, as needed, to meet additional business needs.

A 7 day free trial is available for those organizations who wish to try out the software before committing to purchasing the software. This is provided over the Internet on one of BellHawk Systems' test servers.

Customers can learn how to use BellHawk using the training materials and documentation provided on this website. Personal on-line training and support is also available on an hourly rates basis.

Most customers install BellHawk on a Windows Server within their own facility but BellHawk can also be installed on a Cloud-based data center and accessed over the Internet. We recommend that customers have their IT support people enable remote access to this server for BellHawk systems. This enables BellHawk Systems staff to remotely install the software and make sure that it is running correctly. Alternately the software can be installed by the customer's IT people.

BellHawk comes with an extensive set of interfaces that can be used to automatically exchange data with ERP and accounting systems, as well as with CRM and E-Commerce websites. These can be used by the support organizations for these systems to implement automated data exchange interfaces with BellHawk. Where needed, BellHawk Systems staff can provide support to these systems integration activities.

One question we are frequently asked is: How long does this typically take? The BellHawk software installation only takes a couple of hours. The needed equipment can be typically drop-shipped to a customer site within a few days. But then training people and testing the planned operational use of the system may take a number of weeks before the decision is made to go-live.
