The software for a BellHawk system is shipped as a BellHawk base system with selected software modules to provide a solution that meets the needs of each client and works "out-of-the-box". There are many settings within the BellHawk software that can be used to tailor the software to the needs of individual users.

 There is, however, a practical limit to how many flags and switches a software product can have before these become unmanageable. So BellHawk has flags and switches for all the common variations of usage and then BellHawk Systems provides a customization service for its software, if further customizations are needed.

BellHawk Systems does provide the BellHawk reports module in Access/VBA source code format so that clients can modify existing reports and write their own reports. Some clients have also used alternate report writing programs, such as Crystal Reports, to write their own reports.

Typical customization services include:

  1. Modifying scan data collection sequences to capture additional data or to simplify the scan sequences in special cases.

  2. Modifying existing reports or generating custom reports.

  3. Modifying inventory and work-in-process screens to show different data.

  4. Implementing custom data exchange interfaces to external systems.

  5. Automating operational processes.

Customizations start with the writing of a requirements document, which can be produced by the client or BellHawk Systems (based on verbal communications from the client). Then, except for very simple customizations, a BellHawk Systems' staff member will write a document detailing the customizations to be made to the BellHawk software. This is presented to the client along with a fixed price quotation for the customization.

Customizations are not performed until they have been approved by the client and the client has paid the required pre-payment to BellHawk Systems. The work will be scheduled, the customizations made and tested and then delivered to the client. The client is then requested to test the software as soon as possible so that, should any problems arise, they can be quickly fixed.

Please note that, except for very simple customizations, the client is responsible for paying for the support labor hours needed by BellHawk Systems' staff to write the document describing in detail the customizations to be made.
