BellHawk Systems Corporation provides a wide variety of cost-effective tracking solutions
using barcode, RFID and wireless mobile computer technologies. These
include Inventory Tracking solutions,
Production and Work-in-Process Tracking
solutions, and materials Tracking and
Traceability solutions. BellHawk also provides
a cost-effective barcode tracking capability for most
ERP and
accounting systems.
As well as providing standard tracking solutions that work
"out-of-the-box", BellHawk Systems provides custom barcode tracking
solutions based upon its extensive line of software modules.
For these applications BellHawk starts with pre-built
software modules that typically provide over 95% of the lines of code
needed for most inventory tracking applications and then customizes this
code to the specific needs of its clients. BellHawk then works with local
suppliers of barcode equipment and IT services to provide complete
solutions at very cost effective prices. These solutions can include
pre-implementation systems design and implementation project management
services. They can also include on-site system setup, training and
operational support services.
BellHawk uses both fixed
station PCs (equipped with corded barcode scanners) and wireless
mobile computers (equipped with built-in barcode scanners) to perform
barcode scanning. The data is collected in a real-time database server
where it is accessible to supervisors, managers, and customer service
people. The data collected may also be exported to an accounting
system or ERP system as transactions or as incremental consumption of
labor, machine time, and materials on jobs and the resultant
production of materials.
A major feature of
BellHawk is that data is extensively validated as it is being input by
the user to help ensure that only correct data is collected and that
users do not make operational mistakes. This data
validation is performed against data stored in a local data base in
each wireless mobile computer or by PCs using data stored in the database
server. Data is automatically exchanged between the ERP/accounting
system, the BellHawk server, and the mobile computers so that that
real-time point-of-use operational data validation can be performed.
For printing out barcode
labels and RFID tags, BellHawk is closely integrated with the BarTender®
Enterprise software. Using this interface, BellHawk can automatically
print out labels, on demand, based on the data stored in the BellHawk
database. This enables BellHawk to support printing and tag encoding using
a wide range of barcode printers.
BellHawk tracking
solutions make extensive use of technologies such as barcode scanning,
RFID and wireless mobile computing to deliver solutions that are
easy to use by employees who have limited computer literacy. Through the
use of its BSAF
(pronounced be-safe) store and forward technology, BellHawk is able to
support mobile data collection operations in environments with limited and
intermittent communications. This enables reliable data collection in
difficult industrial environments, in yards, offsite facilities
and in the field.
A key factor for many
organizations in choosing a BellHawk solution is the ability for
BellHawk to track
work-in-process
as well as material
movement and status. BellHawk integrates both inventory and
work-in-process tracking into one system, which is critically needed for
most tracking and traceability solutions.

While the primary purpose of most BellHawk applications is to prevent
mistakes and to capture tracking and traceability data, many
organizations find that their BellHawk systems pay for themselves within
6 months or less due to improved operational efficiencies.
BellHawk based barcode tracking solutions range in cost from around $10,000 to about
$100,000, with a median of around $40,000. This includes the cost of the
software licenses, barcode equipment and mobile computers, and systems
implementation services. To estimate the cost of implementing your
